Well yesterday was a pretty crappy day for me. I had to put my dog down after almost 13 years together. Her name is mindy. She was a special dog. We had the same birthday and everything. I sure will miss her. Here is what she looks like.

Heres a poem that makes me cry everytime I read it. Hope it helps, it helped me when my dog died

PEACE

Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends, so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water, and sunshine, to keep our friends warm and comfortable.

All the animals who have been ill or old, are restored to health and vigor. Those who have been hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just like we remember them in our dreams of days, and times gone by. The animals are happy and content except for one small thing, they miss someone that was left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when they will suddenly stop and look off into the distance, as if they see someone they have been waiting for. Their eyes become bright and their bodies begin to shake with anticipation. Suddenly one will break form the group, flying over the green grass, running faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. They happy kisses rain upon your face, and your hands are able to caress their beloved head once more. You look into those trusting eyes, so long ago taken from your life, but never absent from your heart.

You now are able to cross the Rainbow Bridge together.

recently we found a little kitten outside the yard, it was mewing like crazy like it missed his mommy, but when we took him inside he would drink but refused to eat, we tried to force feed him the replacement milk but he wouldnt take it in, he kept mewing and he wouldnt purr or anything, we stayed up with him and tried to feed him every hr, last night at 1:45 he died, it was extremely sad, my dad was even crying, he told the little kitty he wasnt going to die alone and he held him for hrs while he was not doing so well, my dad was so upset that he just left for work at 2:30 and worked all day, i was so upset i could barely go to my college class today

I had to take our Staffordshire Terrier and one of our Doberman's to be put down. While it's sad it's extremely humane. One needle prick and they're gone with no pain. Sort of makes you wonder why we don't it with the elderly.

On the flip side, I've got a dog right now that I can't give away:grr: We took her in last July when she was abandoned near my friend's house--now I know why. This dog shows absolutely no loyalty. She's great indoors and loves to play but as soon as she thinks she's going outside she forgets all about you. You can't let her out without having the leash on her or she'll run away. She'll be gone for about 2 hours and then come back. The county Humane Society has been full for 3 weeks and isn't accepting any new dogs, nobody I know wants her and she just ran away on Saturday (she nudged a door open that a friend left cracked). Some people managed to grab her and they called our vet's office because the number was on her tags and they returned her to us today. If it wasn't so cruel I'd take this dog into the middle of nowhere and drop her off. To top it off she jumped over my newborn daughter's railing on her crib (which is 48" tall) and was laying in the crib:mad: I cannot have that at all.

We lost our Black Lab Friday. He was a runt in his litter, and it took him a long time to learn how to run. He was the smartest dog I have ever seen. He would go out in the morning to try and get the newspaper. Since he coulndt get our paper, he would go over and steal the neighbors. He would also go into the lake, in the shallow water, dunk his head under the water, and bring out a rock. You could throw a rock in the shallow water, and he could find it. He died from a form of luikemia. He will be missed.

Sorry to hear about your loss.

Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge....
I had to put my 9-1/2 yr old Rott to sleep last October. Afterwards, I found a picture of her, and lightened it, then printed it out (8x10). Then I printed that poem on top of the picture and framed it. It now proudly hangs in my house, and to this day, still gets me a little watery-eyed reading it.
