I dont know about you guys but when I ride in the woods, my 400ex bottoms out ALOT. nothing worse than getting HIGH CENTERED on the swing arm guard. I know a taller tire will help but how tall can I go? 22's 23's hmmmmm

For trail riding, some 22" razrs would suit you well:)

WOW! Look how clean the rears are compared to the fronts.

What are on the front and would a different style be better?

jeff@quadshop.. when you run 22's do you change the front sprocket? maybe a 13T do you think I will need to? as far as hills and such..

What are on the front and would a different style be better? My ATK has tons of power so that isn't an issue. I used to drop 1 tooth on my 250R. You would just have to try it on your 400ex and see how it feels.

Well I have a 400ex with motor work and still feel it's necessary to drop to down a tooth on the front sprocket when running 22's. That bottom end power comes in handy on hill climbs and tight rutted sections..

If I drop one tooth, will I need a new chain? my chain is pretty old I am asuming even the stocker... should I just change the back tires or fronts too

If your chain adjust ment is all the way back, then you will need a new chain. If you have adjustment left then you should be ok.

Your best bet is to go ahead and purchase a full sprocket and chain set..;)
