I've rode quads my whole life(currently own a 400ex) and I love mine to death but I've been thinking about dirtbikes lately and I finally want to try one out, but keep my 400. Since I have hardly any experience with dirtbikes and I'm only 15 5' 6" tall, I figured the CRF230F would be the best bet for me. What do ya'll think? Anyone else own one of these? Wanna show me? Thanks ahead.

The 230F is a heavy bike.

Try a CR125. You'll fit.

If your going 4-stroke try the CRF250. Real easy to get used to bikes. Just dont think you can turn them in mud nearly as fast as a quad, thats how most learners dump the bike.

But I'm saying do not get the 230F.

I would get the 250 but it's way too expensive and too big for me. I'm on a really tight budget right now since I'm only 15. Plus, I don't really want to race them right now anyway.

The crf250 or rmz250 would be the best bet,125's are alot cheaper but If your starting out the unicam crf250 is awesome, you shouldnt "outgrow" it till it needs thrown away. The 125 will require alot more work to keep it in the power band, where as the crf250 is sooo smooth when it comes on you will probably feel more comfy. The 230 is a waste if you ask me just my 2 cents dont get mad

If you get one, be sure to take the baffle out of the exhaust & rejet (power up kit). It makes a huge difference. It is a nice bike for the money, reliable, fairly quick & has decent suspension.

I am going to have to say none of those.

Go with a XR400 if you have a 400ex you know about the motor. You can find 00 and on ones in the paper for less then a new 230f. Dont say its to big, I am 5' 6 and 160lbs I ride one just fine, and for off-road trails those things are a beast with a pipe, filter, and rejet.
