what you all with 250x/300ex's with 18in tires run for gearing. right now i have 12/38 gearing..and its not gonna work out when i get the 18's. so what do yall run? i've heard 14/36 is the best, but what are yalls opinions?

I run a 12-38 on tight tracks then i will change over to a 13-38 on more open tracks...the smaller front sprocket gives alot better bottom end out of corners..
and i have 18in. rear tires

i've heard of alot of people running the 14/36 gearing with 18's, and it even says in on douggust's website, so idk, im really confused
I have 18" rear holeshot mxr's and i run 13/33 gearing, works great, i used to run 14/38, but i felt it had too much bottom end and i even race SX. I usually run a 12 tooth front sproket when i race SX and use my 13 tooth front when i ride mx.

where did you find a 33? i've never seen them, and do you like the taller gearing because it lets you stay in each gear longer, or what?

Aight thanks man, i'm gonna be running this gearing probably, 13/34, because i dont really want to use a 14 t because i cant get my case saver to fit.

I changed to a 14-36 after i posted here. I forgot to reply and tell ya that i've ran prolly 5 different set-ups and the 14-36 is the best for mx IMO!

"14/36" This is the gearing I used to run until I broke my 36 and had to use my spare 38 rear. I have run the 14/38 ever since, just seems like I am much faster in and coming out of the corners with the 38.
