I went riding this weekend using the new front tires i bought for my 450R (Holeshot XCR 21x7x10). The place I went riding at was in PA and is rock infested!!! Anyhow I noticed that it was quite a bit more harsh riding with the 21 inch fronts vs. the stock 22's. It was alot more plush when I rode there a couple weeks ago with the 22's. I did notice that 21's were much easier to turn around with. I like the way they handle and the way they make the quad turn, but i didn't like them over real rocky terrain. If I went with 22's would I still get the same great turning radius that i did with the new 21's, or would I loose the turning radius, but get a plusher ride.

What are the pros and cons of 22's vs 21's

I wouldnt think the turning radius would change.:huh

smaller tire=better handling and bigger tire=worse handling.....the 22's will not handle quite as well as the 21's but they will work a lot better for yah on rocky trails and trail riding overall

I would stick with the 21's. I find 22's to be entirely too tall. The only thing you gain with the 22's is an extra inch of ground clearance and more sidewall area to be sliced and punctured. I had a set of 22" razr 2's and after a week traded them to some guy with 21" razr 2's that were also like new and I couldnt be happier. 22" tires that are aftermarket tend to look a little bigger than stockers anyway.... Overall I'm just not impressed with the 22's at ALL, but that is just my personal preference

your new 21 could be 4 or 6 ply. as to the stock 2 ply. that would make the ride harder. I have just started running 21 and I feel that they are a little better. I run the 6 ply. razr 2

If your a trail rider then 22's are your best bet. Smaller tires make for a chitty ride in rough conditions.

I'm with rs....the ride difference was because the origional tires are much softer wich means a better ride. As far as 21" vs 22" aftermarket tires, go with 22" for trails or XC. Turning radius is no different between the two and the 22's offer a better ride. Not as good as stock 22" tires but better than the 21's.

my 22x8x10 shredder fronts were much much bumpier than my 21x7x10 shredder fronts. i believe this is due to the extra width and not the height. yes, the softer compound stock tires are about as smooth as your going to get...

Actually my new 21's are 6ply xcr's. And I just checked and saw that I had alot more PSI in them then I did in my original stockers! The turning radius from the stockers to these 21's increased dramatically. It now feels just right, and I'm able to turn right around with much more ease than I did with the stock 22's...i guess its all a tradeoff. I'm going run a little less than 4 PSI in them and see how they are. If its still harsh, i'm going to come down on the compression on the shocks to compensate a bit.
