250r question

I want a 250r, could some explain to me the differences in the years, and which was best. I have always had 4 strokes, but I want an R to rebuild, basically back to stock form. I know they are going away, but I want one to have one, not gonna be raced, just gonna be redone and kept, you know winter project. So someone with great knowledge about R's enilighten me on what i should look for.
