Im tossin up the thought of gettin a bike or a quad. If i got a quad id have enough for a 400EX. I was wondering how many of you have 1 and like it, and how many of ya race it and how well do ya do. Please post pics of your ex. thanks

I don't race yet because of age rules :(. but if your gonna race a quad competetively, your most likely gonna have to spend quite a bit of money in suspension, and a-arms, and that stuff, whereas a bike, maybe some new ford springs, and then build up the motor. I think, to be competetive at the same level as eachother, the quad will need a sh*t load of money!

I race a tried and true 300ex:cool: Go ahead and laugh. It depends on your type of racing. XC or harescrambles I'd much rather do it on a quad. The 300 is right in there with the rest of the C classers.

I race a 400ex and love it. The thing IS worth 5 figures though so It really depends on how much you want to put in it to be competitive. I know some people race 400's stock or semi-stock in the lower classes so you should be able to get by until you can modify it. Or you could just go the easy route and get a fully built race machine for cheap from someone who is selling one that already has suspension, motor work, etc..... That would be the way to go and save alot of cash and you will have a blast on it....

i think you should get the 125..my 125:D

jk if you get the 400 you might have to dump sum$$ into it ,to get it at the same level as the new 450's, but the 400ex's are sweet

Hey how old are you? im 16 when i race and im 15 when im not racing, but my birthday is in 1 month but i lied to do a race, its not a big deal because my parents dont agree on the age laws on the bikes and its a stupid law, maybe no one 12 and under but yeah thats whats up :)

i race my 400ex

last year it was stock and smokin bad.. got the holeshot at a d6 harescramble.. was up in front for most of the race till i wrecked on the last lap ended up placing 12th :( now i got work done to the motor and suspention.. but i missed the first race becasue the motor was apart.. second because i had a very bad eye infection.. im waiting on the next... i think i missed another race in there too because the quad was apart.

a stock 400ex has a lot of potential..
make it compete better
1.get shocks first the power needs to get to the ground better first
2.pipe filter and tires
3motor work

I race my ex and beat about have the people in the hare scrambles, I have only raced 3 times. Its more skill then bike, just ride and get good. ballence or any pro could probably beat most 400ex owners on a 300ex or warrior easy.

I would rather have a 400 then a new 450. First parts are cheaper and the 400ex is a proven bike to be very reliabiliyy, and is still in the top 5. And as talk about earlier with a 400 you can mod it the way you want and have some pride in your bike, instead of just a bunch of stock or piped 450s.

I do fine on my ex, its got front shocks and a 426 kit, got 4th out of 30 something riders at my last harescramble and 38th of 155 for the overall. Its mostly rider though in harescrambles.

I race my 400ex occaisionally at XC races......My last one about 6 weeks ago I was one the line with a bunch of YFZ's, and Z's, and about 4 400ex's. I got 4th place going into the woods out of 12 in my class, 5th in the class at the finish, and 21 out of 37 overall.

Not bad considering this is my first XC race in 5 years! My 400 is mildly modded w/ a stock engine with a pipe and intake mods, and will usually go faster than I want to go..:D I love mine, it certainly works for me.!

Your therapist must have done a good job of erasing that from your memory to stop your nightmares from mine passing you repeatedly through the woods, and ramming you to get you unstuck and moving again.....

I only gave my therapist one try at an early age... ;)

wait a minute... if you had to ram me to get me unstuck... that means you were BEHIND me! Was that the same time I squeaked between 2 trees, then stopped to watch you bounce off those same trees? Not that I took any pleasure in watching that... You just wait til I get my LRD 295 LT engine done... Right after I get a job... :( :o

I still race my 400 for mx. Although, I would like to get some motor work done soon. I need more good ole brute speed to be able to hang with the yfz's, R's, and hybrids on a consistant basis. My 400 still impresses me, but I asked her and she said she needs to see TC Racing very soon, lol!:p
