Fan concern

I know the fan has power going to it, but how hot does it has to get until it kicks in? The hottest i've ridden was about 60* F hard for 30 minutes, and no fan. . . After many times of riding and looking or hearing for it, I have yet to get it to turn on.

If you want to check it....turn the choke on for a little while, or just turn up the idle and let it sit for a few minutes. I have never seen my fan kick on while i am riding....but i let it idle for awhile and it will kick in.

are you still runnin the key switch? if u take the key off of 450rs the fans dont work

The fan will pretty much only come on when you are idling for a extended period of time or if you are riding at low speeds for an extended period of time. It probably wont ever kick on when you are riding it.

Yes, i have the key switch still, but this is all good news to myself now knowing that the motor is being well cooled that it will never turn on while riding. Thanks for the replies but you are saying when you are running a kill switch that the fan is disabled, is this fixable?

If you decide to remove the key switch you have to splice the red and black wires together and the fan will work the other 2 would go to a tether switch.

No, there is no battery, which i would think you would now if you "own" a 450R, but all the power is coming from the stator. So this means nothing with work with just the key on and the motor not running.

The fan will not run when the bike is not running because there is no battery to power it!:rolleyes:

yeah i know that but all the talk about having the key on made me wonder....but i didnt thin it was possible without it running.....just making sure

yes, this is why you could let it idle for 7-10 minutes, and keep checking the fan. I think the fan only comes on for about 15 seconds.


The raidator on this quad is overkill, its huge!
