I have sanded on it, and did all the steps, and then steel whooled the crap outa it, but it seems like I just put more scratches in it with the sand paper, then the steel whool wont take them out! So I just put a lot of that shinning stuff on there. But now its chipping off, and looks bad...

if you do it EXACTLY as the directions say it will come out very nice. but the problem is that it wont last for chit and will start to peel after a while like you are saying..

this is what i did...and it turned out sweeeetttt.....wet sand it with 1000 grit...get as much of the scratches out as you can...then take a propain "sp?" torch and go over the plastic lightly keep your hand on the backside so it doesn't get too hot...do this all over your plastic...then spray them with clear coat....1-3 coats....looks great...easy...and it doesn't flake off....

Ahh, the torch method.

Wonder where that huge melted spot in my plastic came from?

Plastic renew sucks! IMO
I used it and it looked good but then the first time I washed it with simple green it took most of the finish off.

I never thought about using a torch like that. Maybe I just need to do a lot more sanding... Thanks for the tips guys!

A little, but i dont think i did enough though.

Muff, so you sanded it with the heavier stuff, then used lighter, then the lightest stuff, and then used steel whool?

wet sanding is a kind of sandpaper you wet before sanding...you can do it without water..but it helps with water.

any clear coat will work...and it does not flake off when you bend the plastic..

i wouldn't use a reg torch...you prob could...but i dunno...it might get too hot..

The finer grit you finish with, the better your results will be. Even with the torch trick.
