'00 400ex w/ a few mods

I'm selling a 2000 400ex.

I bought most of this quad as a rolling chassis. Everything works great on it. Brakes are strong, rolls smooth, and pops wheelies with no problems. The motor is from a '99 model and it runs great, I have just installed a brand new stock piston, rings, valve seals, and have lapped the valves. I am almost done breaking it in. The rear carrier bearings are practically brand new along with the rear chain and sprockets. Headlights will be installed by the time of sale. The quad now has matching stock front rims.

Mods:
Lonestar chrome +2+4 axle
Razr rear 20" tires on aftermarket rims
Renthal handlebars
Aftermarket chain and sprockets

$2500 firm. I can deliever up to a certain extent or would meet the buyer half way, but would really rather not ship it.

oh yea thats right it has 2 different front rims...i dunno how the kid before me pulled that off :eek: but i have spare rim/tire sets i could swap out if the buyer wanted

I also have other parts that I could include as well if the buyer wanted...aftermarket rear skidplate, stock toolbox, and maybe some other stuff as well

I'm gonna pull it apart tonight/tomorrow and put in new rings and possibly a piston as well.

ok..i noticed in the quad that you are parting out that you have an LRD exhaust on it...would you want to sell that with the quad?

sorry but that is going on my dads quad. I have a PRM full body skidplate that I could slap on. I just got done taking the top end off, everything is pretty clean in there. I should get done putting the new piston and valve seals in tomorrow night.

I just got finished installing the brand new piston, rings, and valve seals. The head and jug have been bead blasted and look brand new. The insides of this motor are very clean. I will be breaking the quad in over the next day or two.

Sorry, but now that the quad is in perfect running order I cannot take any less than $2500 for it.

I would meet you half way. Do you have the money now? The quad is practically done getting broken in, all i have to do now is install the headlights :)

About the bars go to www.rockymountainatv.com and they have Tusk Aluminum T-7 Bars and I race with them on my Blaster and I think their awesome. $21 bucks too! just an idea

hey muff man i didnt know you were in CT their is a ct quad rider day in central village on sunday if your interested go to cttrailusers.com to sing up it costs $39 to enter for the day but you get free food all day...they have an mx track, drags, mud bog, hill clime it seems like fun (i will be present) and also are you going to be at the southwick national in two weeks? i will be their

that central race would be sick and would love to ride there BUT theres already a NEATV-mx race at jolly rogers, I'm already so far down in points I need all of these last races to count.

if they had better planning I would be there in no time, i've always wanted to ride that track...again (I did the harescramble there a 2 years ago) :o

yea, I really wanted to hit the southwick national, but I want to get a yfz asap. So it looks like I wont have a quad for it. And yes there is a 90ft triple :D I have a friend who would hit it on his quad, but he's gonna be at Jolly. I'm so far down in points (only finished one qualifier so far) I'm debating if I should go to Jolly or not.

The top end is quite clean because i had it bead blasted. The bottom end is kinda dirty. Tomorrow I will be cleaning it up good, putting in the lights, and snapping a few pictures for ya.

are you asking about the reliablity of this quad or the other ones I have owned?

I'll answer both, you are correct, this will be a reliable trails quad, with the fresh motor and all.

With my other 400exs, the only main reliability problems have been with motors that have been built up to much. Looking at it now I wish I just stuck with a high compression piston, cam, and a 416. I could have finished a lot more races that way then messing around with blowing head gaskets on my 440s all the time.

Yeah that is what I am afraid of. Yeah sure there's nothing wrong with rejetting it and putting an aftermarket exhaust on but when the modding gets into the motor, I start losing confidence in it; thinking it's bullet-proof reputation is out the window.
