loud ticking in engine

I was riding my 400 ex and then i noticed that there was a loud ticking noise coming from my engine. i thing it is the valves. can anyone help me

It is the valves, sometimes it will go away, but u'll prolly need to fix that.

change the oil and adjust the valves and see if it goes away.

if its a loud TING noise, thats NOT good, piston slap. but chances are its the valves acting up

If the noise started suddenly, and is an easily audible tapping or ticking, I would suspect a head gasket, or the cam chain could have possibly thrown a link and it could be slapping around (less likely). Otherwise, it is probably the valves ticking away.

prolly your valves. I adjusted mine last week (first time in 4 years:eek2: ) and it made a world of difference....:cool:
