I recently purchased a second hand 400ex, and the clutch lever is extremely hard to pull. Im thinking, and was told buy a mechanic that the last owner could have put heavy duty springs in it, but would it be THIS hard to pull?

He could have but its more than likely the cable is just worn.

Could bre heavier springs in the clutch, but like K_fulk it could be the cable too.

First, get a new cable and an aftermarket clutch perch and parking brake block off...

I like the RTC... http://www.rtcracingproducts.com/

My clutch cable was like that after I tie banded it to my sparkplug wire to keep the clutch cable from touching the exhaust. I adjusted the clutch over and over couldnt figure it out. Turns out the tie band was too tight.

i had the same problem a few weeks ago, first thing i did was buy a ez pull form rtc (which is excellent by the way) i also bought a cable lube kit, i lubed the cable and it made a world of difference! i then put the ez pull on and it made it all the better, so lube it before you do anything if you're happy with your stockl lever:D
