Anybody done this? I'm in CA. and looking to build a quad from the ground up. You know, build a motor, buy a chassis and suspension, etc. Since it will never have been an existing quad, how do you title it and such? I know with street bikes, it's registered as a "special construction". Thats how most custom Harley type bikes are done, but I'm not sure about offroad.

you take the bike and all your reciepts (sp) to the dmv they will give you some paper work to fill out, then they will tell you to make an appointment with the Highway Patrol. they will need all your paper work also they will give it a ohv vin number you then tke it back to the dmv and finish the reg. process

If you take your receipts to the dmv . dont take all of them if you spend 20,000 on a quad that is what they will tax you on. thats what they will do in washington.:eek2:
