I just got done rebuilding my ex. After rebuild trying to start it became a problem it wouldnt idle and it would backfire after it warmed up. I cleaned the carb out the first start up after carb cleaning the motor idled very high and blew white smoke... I figure just to turn the idle down but why the white smoke....... Any ideas?

Thanks

if your exhaust is white it could mean that the engine is cold or you have a torn gasket.

Most likely when you cleaned the carb you gow some water in somewhere and when you started it up the water came out. white smoke-water
light blue smoke-burnt oil(bad thing)
black smoke- a bunch of carbon build up(usually never happends)

So the white smoke isnt anything to really worry about??

as long as it dosnt continue, if water stays in the cylinder it will rust away your sleeve in a matter of time.-darren
