There is a scraping sound coming from what sounds like the rearend. I know it isnt the axel berings. I shook the axel and it is sollid. I looked the quad over and I cant figure out what it could be

is it continuous? or does it scrape off and on when the axle rotates? you may have a warped or bent rotor and it is scraping the pads.

It seemed continuous, but I was only ridin for about 5 min and only heard it a lower rpms. I know it cant be the roater because it hasent worked since june, and I checked that and it seemed fine.

you probably somehow got dirt into the bearing carrier, you could take it apart and check it out if you want..

What tools do I need, how hard would that be, and how much time does that take. It doesnt feel like it would just be dirt thou. Ive ridden in lots of sand before and mothin in the carrier.

its not hard...

1-Take chain off
2-Take axle locknut off
3-Pull axle out
4-Losen up the tightening bolts (for chain)

then it should pop right out....i've done it many times, I keep breaking swingarms so I do it every couple weeks, lol

Thanks I think Ill try that. Does anyone have any other thoughts on what it might be.

well i finaly got around to looking at it today, it deffinatly sounds like somthins up with the seals, I cant take off the axle due to lack of the propper tools, If it is dirt could I just wash it out? Also is it ok to ride like this, will it hurt anything? Thanks.

could it be the skid plate bent up rubbing on the rotor or sprocket ? kinda dumb but never know

i dont see how a rubber seal could make a metal noise when my 300ex did this it was the bearings giveing me a warning
that they were about to go out

I never said it was a metalic scraping, and I've said it many times in this post it isnt the axel berrings. I looked it over tonight, It is deffinatly a seal. I can hear it when i move the rotor. Will running it like this hurt anything?

this sounds more like a statement, not a question. :huh

j/k

i wouldn't think it would be your seals either. i am wondering if maybe something is in your carrier, bearings are bad, chain needs lubed, or your pads are dirty and rub against your rotor.

Mabey its not the seal but the niose is coming from were the seal would be, I know its not the rotor. The berrings are good.

Even if there isnt any wobble in the axel the bearings could still be seized solid.
