I have been having a bit of trouble with temps when really running my quad hard... some of this is due to the race fuel and some is due to a winch I mounted on the front ..... anyway I picked up a stock cooler from E-bay and will be adding it to the system ... However, rather than reinventing the wheel has anyone done this? If so do you have pics? Or at least post what where, how etc....

Thanks Quad.....

Someone has done this recently so do a search and I'm sure you'll find it.

The race fuel should help cool the motor down. I'm guessing the winch is restricting airflow and how often do you spray out your oil cooler with a garden hose??

:eek2: Heck yeah

I don't mean flush the cooler of oil I mean spray the fins on the mini radiator out both front and back...:blah:

If you don't deliberatly spray that area then it's not working properly cooling the oil down because it's has mud and who knows what clogging the fins....

If you are still wondering about the 2 oil coolers...PM speedy400. He's a friend of mine who did it, seemed to work good.

Yip, I got a second stock oil cooler, seems to work pretty darn good too, mine is located right inbetween the 2 front bars on the frame behind the bumper, I put it there so the hot air would hopefully cool before it got to the cooling fins on the motor.-darren

this is not how you are suppose to install it. it looks like they drilled a hole in one side, but you can just avoid that and not tap the fitting in that deep. you want it to suck the oil up from that hole in the center of the pic, not from inside the casing

yeah I know your not supposed to go that deep. that pic and the 3rd pic are not mine just some stuff I got on here. the oil cooler and the motor are mine.

I didn't go that deep on mine, the end doesn't stick out.

That's really the only way to do it without grinding the tap down little by little as you thread it (which is what I did and it worked great, no plug needed). That's a plug, and it's there because in order for you to get the threads the size and depth you need them, you have to drill through and make clearance for the tap; but like I said, if you grind the tap little by little until you get the correct thread size (remember, it's tapered) you won't have to drill through.
