Well My wife nad I are on the verge of getting a 450R,

My question is:
I am planning on going to the honda store with 60, One hundred $100 dollar bills, litteraly.

so do you think they will put it in my truck for 6000$ in 100$ bills?
should I bring a few extra? My plan is to walk in and make my offer if they balk or say no, im going to the next honda store, there are four here in denver basically, I figure someone will let it go for cold hard cash.

I doubt it...if they sell it at $6000 they are making little to no money on a very hot quad right now that is selling for more than that..if you get it for that you will be very lucky..i would bring a couple more hundreds around with you...they will prob. try to waste alot of your time doing "paperwork" or whatever only for you to find out the manager cant do it....then they will ask for some more money 7 you think "ive already wasted all this time so i might as well pay a little more"

It might work. But I think if you can get it out the door for the retail your doing pretty good.

Try the walking out if they don't give ya it for 6 g's. If none of them give it to ya then go back later.

The bike retail for 6,499.00. I doubt they would sell the bike for that because it cost the dealer around 5,600 plus set-up, taxes and there mark up. But good luck.

if you know a person at the dealer or something or have a hook up there u might get it for 6 maybe.....but thats like 5,000 if u add tax freight setup and all that.....i got mine for 6,350 and i was 150 better then every dealer i went to.....all 5 of them said 6500 otd and they wont budge

you guys may be correct, however, there are people on this site that have bought their 450R's for 6000$ and some even got it for 5995$. So I dont know why they would not take 6000$ cash.

I was told they payed 5200$ for the bike from honda, all they have to do it put on the handle bars and a few things, and if tax costs 500$, they still make a few hundred bucks.

yes alot of people did get them for 6000 but if im correct they bought them out of state and didnt have to pay tax...i got mine for 6000 but that was out of state and without tax so if i register mine i have to pay 350 dollars....but its very unlikely to get it for 6000 otd with tax unless u are the owner or know the owner

Well I tried palying " Hard Ball" with one dealer here in denver, Excel motorsports, and he said the lowest he will go with cash is $6470 OTD in my truck.

So I am taking that to the rest of the dealers and see if they will go lower, I just dont want to pay retail for anything! If im paying in green bills I feel I should get the best possible price on earth. ANyone got any tips?

$6470, does that sound good? do you think I can get lower? He said even if I went to a different state you still pay taxes, he said that is a myth, you always pay local taxes.

well hes lieing to you.....since i went out of state and didnt pay tax and thats how it goes......just call up a dealer out of state and ask them when u pay the taxes.....oh and also green backs dont really do anything becasue if u think about it if you finance they get more money out of it

Is it not reliable? I dont think I should buy it then..."...that got them to stop pushing that bullcrap on me & my dad

Its not bad but i'm sure there are better deals out there, I payed 6,299 dollars or mine with 1600 down, then they tosed the charges on top of that, so your would be a better deal than mine was.

JWhite
05-26-2004, 11:11 AM
I paid $5850 before tax.

05-26-2004, 11:12 AM
why did you agree to pay the charges...they arent necessary & you can usually talk your way out of them 7 if you cant then you dont need to deal with the dealership b/c they are scamming you

If your referring to me, I'm talking tax and title. I wouldn't pay there stupid setup fee for just topping of the oil and putting the heelguards on, thats just a joke.

05-26-2004, 11:27 AM
yes..i was seeing if you paid there setup fees & shipping fees & other things...glad you didnt waste your money :p

You know they have to make a killing off the people who need loans because they get a kick back from the banks...

Maybe you'll get one for less with cash but only if they haven't sold one in awhile.

Mine was $6250 + 500 HRC installed + 500 for 3.5yr warranty
I wanted mine covered since it's the first year out and might have some bugs in it.:p :p

From what I understand, they don't have anymore 450r's. So what ever they ask for it give it to them.

Call them and ask

They are in Denver, Sun Honda

FYI, after the guy quoted me 6470 OTD, I called another dealer nad told them theri price and he said he would get me OTD in my truck for 6300$

so im getting there, soon ill have someone willing to take 6000$

ill let you all know, I think I will purchase after memorial day

At a dealer, the greenbacks don't mean too much anymore. A cashiers check, bank check or a loan financed through them is just as "green" to them as the cash in your hand. If you can find someone to sell you one for $6000 OTD, it probly won't be because you walked in with cash. Although when buying through a private seller the "green" can make the difference......Good-Luck.........

trout
05-27-2004, 04:41 PM
cash may not mean what it used to, to the dealer, but if you dont have the money they can sell it to you for whatever they want,

because............

YOU DONT HAVE THE MONEY!

I got the money, if they want it..........they have to hit my price, I can buy anywhere, the cash is in my hand, if you finance you are sucking on their t i t.

I don't know if I agree with that. Usually I make my deal before they ever figure out how I'm going to pay for it. I know what I'm willing to pay before I walk in the door(as do you). Plus when you finance, the dealer usually doesn't have the best rate. You can finance through your local bank or credit union before and go in and buy in cash just as you are now. So a person financing can get the same advantages(if there is any) as a person paying cash that they have in their pocession.

Yeah................good point.

ill agree with that .

Fact is, I got 60, 100 dollar bills under my bed, but I dont have 61 or 62 or 63. So im hopeing for a price of $6000:p

If I have to pay $6300, ill have to put the rest on my debit card or write a check I guess. Wonder if they will let me charge the difference.hey wait.... im only accepting 6000! :blah:

your wrong on that statement.. the honda dealership around here did alot of work on my 400ex that they tied the warranty into.. a bunch of things it should not have covered for example i fliped it going up a hill and i cut wires somehow and it wouldnt start, and when i pushed started it none of the lights would work.. i took it to them the next day i had it.. yeah they did have it for 2 months one time.. but that was my fault...

if you are getting a honda warranty go talk to the mech if he is nice do it you wont regret it, if he is grumpy and seems to only rush to get things done dont get it.. i wish i could get a warranty on my yfz but the dealer are pecker heads around here cause i went to tenn. and paid 5999.00 cash and dont think the local dealers where happy that i got it .. they just told me hope nothing goes wrong.... ohh well

where i bought my yfz at they are selling the honda 450r for 5699.00 and thats not a lie.. you go there with the money you leave with the 4 wheeler.. :D

ALSO i would have got the R if they was selling them for 5699.00 when i bought my yfz to save some money but at the time they was only 5899.00 only 100.00 cheaper..

also alot of people around here localy are buying the honda close to 6 grand.. if they say no just say something about the yfz and how you might buy it.. maybe they work something with you to get a sale..

sorta go their confused maybe and say you cant make up your mind.. but if they carry both i guess your outa luck sorry..

SuzukiRacr07

im sure one of them would take it..... i paid 5999 for my YFZ and its the hottest quad available so im sure they would take it for the R

Keep trying the different dealers and you'll get what you want eventually.

I have never bought a quad from a dealer that I didnt 1st check out there service or how willing they are to take care of you.

A couple hundo saved could be worthless if they are azzes and will not help you out in a pinch. I can go to my dealer and borrow any special tool I need from them and that alone is worth it for me but there are many more benefits.Warranty, tipping me on service bulletins, discounts.
