Help With 300ex

i have a 2003 300ex with a fmf pipe, jetkit, k&n airfilter when i ride it will suddenly start to die out then i hit the gas and it comes back! it also back fires when i down shift from high speeds! what is the problem? my dad says its just broken in is he wrong?

Um, no its not "broken". Your pilot jet is probly clogged. You need to pull your carb off and clean out your jets and all of the air and fuel passages. That should do it. If not, turn your pilot secrew out about one turn and that may fix it for ya. Good luck
