250x 300ex k&n filters the same?

are they the same? i figure the 400ex filters are different, but what about the other 2? and do the 300 and 250 have the same headpipe/silencer?

yes they are the same, the header and muffler are the same too, theyre basically the same quad just with 250cc's instead of 300 cc's

I've always been told that a 250x has a bigger cam than a 300ex also, could be false....

They are not the same.

I'm not sure of the exact difference because I've never placed them side-by-side, but I DO know that they are different.

And the 250X cam isn't "bigger" but it does have a more aggressive power characteristic. It will drop in, but it's not exactly the same. Some people put the 250X cam into the 300EX for a little more top-end power.

thats strange that they say they are different w/ part number, but every box ive seen says 250x/300ex 87-04

They do have different part numbers but will interchange just fine.The 300ex filter is slightly larger but they are the same where they slide in the boot.

wilkin250r, haha yeah, I know they aren't larger in mass and size, like legnth and bearing journal sizes. I should have not used such a vague term, but I meant what you said by "bigger". More duration and lift is what I meant.
