The track was seven dusty miles long. Riding the track the day before, I was stoked to be hosting Round Four of the Mid East Series in Hickory, NC at Airport. Sunday morning, we found the snapping turtle in the creek, ready to eat a rider's leg!!!!

He just about bit off my hand!!!!

By half of the lap one, Mike Houston had worked his way into the lead. Houston looked strong aboard the Honda 450R.
Lap two, Houston was still out front.

Bonnie Cook
05-25-2004, 02:55 PM
Bryan Cook was less than a minute back from Houston, holding onto a solid second place.

Bonnie Cook

Lap 3, the gap between Houston and Cook was closing in.
Houston still looked good as he was charging hard to set a strong pace.
With a rain shower ending up, no dust was on the track.

Bonnie Cook

Ben Parham was having a rough ride, but was hanging onto to finishing.

Bonnie Cook
05-25-2004, 03:16 PM
White flag was out and Houston held just fifteen seconds over Cook.

Bonnie Cook
05-25-2004, 03:19 PM
Cook was on the gas, trying to get to number one.
Was Houston untouchable?

Bonnie Cook

Bonnie Cook

Good to see Jason on the Honda 450R. LaRusso was an avid 250R racer.

New days.

The comment meant:

At trophy presentation everyone said the track was worn out and that is why they didn't like it. So, my dad is going up to bobcat some of the trails to cover up deep ruts and cut some new sections for you guys. No natural disasters!!!

I'm with Barry. I was kind of hoping there was some sort of natural disaster. :(

Don't give in to all the pansies. That track is the only thing close to technical that the Mid East has. Can't you let the real riders have just one track? :blah:

yeah and i want a short cut the hardest thing you can make but saving major time hill climb thats what we need darn near impossible the hard stuff is what im good at every one that wants a smooth wide open track can wait for big buck variaty is what makes xc intresting if it was all the same it would be called moto cross and we all know real men dodge trees not hay bails and silly barrels they move. I was realy impressed with circle j every one else complained about it being tight every one i beat but those same people smoked me at pv thats what makes it fun nobodys good at everything.

Okay, Gump is right......

The Big Buck Mid East has been cancelled.
Henry Turner emailed me a couple of weeks ago saying that he doesn't want to hold anymore races at his Big Buck facility due to dust conditions. Due to his feelings, the Mid East has had to cancel a scheduled event.

Therefore, check out the Racing section for a relocation track as well as the mideastinterstate.com website for schedule posting for directions.
