I am looking for a 12:1 to 13:1 compression piston for my 450R.

Sparks "has" a 12:1 piston, but I keep getting the same old story from them: "they will be ready in another week or two".

The Sparks 13.8:1 piston is higher compression than I want.

I don't mind going over bore a bit if necessary, but I prefer stock bore.

What is available?

Wiseco has piston's in stock. Also try LRD Performance they built a 450 for my buddy. 13:1.

I contacted Wiseco. They have the following:

10.5:1
11.5:1
13.5:1

The 10.5 and 11.5 are available in stock bore or 2mm over.
The 13.5 is only available in stock bore.

I wish they had a 12:1 or a 12.5:1.

Someone want to tell me why I shouldn't get the stock bore 11.5:1 from Wiseco?

I have a full exhaust and will be adding a Sparks or HRC Cam.

Down the line, I plan to do some head and valve work.

Wiseco also makes a 12.5:1, but only in the 500cc size.

Got a reply from JE. They have a standard bore 11.5:1 available now and a 13:1 that should be avaible next week.

If Sparks is using JE to make "their" pistons, would there be any difference between the one from Sparks and the one from JE???

I doubt that, proably just the name. Let me know what you end up doing. I am looking also.

I want to stay on pump gas, so I will probably go with the 11.5:1. Rather have a 12:1, but I'd like to have this done in the next few weeks for my trip to St. Anthony.

Stock is 10.5:1, right? 11.5:1 is not to crazy of a jump, but enough to give it a bit of a boost (in combination with a new cam).

I never said it wouldn't (but I'm no expert there).

I decide to go with:

11.5:1 JE piston
'02 CRF450R Cam (similar to HRC Cam)

Thanks to Johnny at JH Racing for setting me up!
