Edited By EXriders.com Admin:

The GNC Series headed to Michigan for the exciting 7th Round. Doug Gust headed into the round with 5 consecutive Overalls and was to continue his streak and lengthen his 63 points lead over Jeremiah Jones and John Natalie Jr tied for 2nd with 112 points each.

Stormy weather and a severe thunderstorm threat pushed the promoter to shorten the Amateur motos to finish up on Sunday before the storms arrived. Thankfully, the rain held off and for both Pro Motos unlike the previous round at Muddy Creek, and the racing action was intense.

Several EXriders.com members attended the race to cover the racing action, and Fred has taken the time to post his Pro Race Report.

Great photos..I would love to see Dougs quad on top of Jones...Moto 2.:D..do you have that by any chance??

Bart
05-25-2004, 08:47 AM
Sorry but ran out of memory taking photos of moto 2. Had to resort to deleting some amature photos to make room for more pro class photos while the race was going on. This made it a little difficult to take as many good photos and to keep track of who was in what position. Plus the accident at the start of the race really spread the racers out which also made it more difficult for me to follow the race.

Here goes. The start of moto 2.

Bart
05-25-2004, 08:50 AM
More early action (first lap after the ski jump). The track was really drying out for moto 2.

Great Pictures Fred. I am so glad I decided to go to that GNC. Great racing. That tabletop triple was awesome to see some of the pros clear! I can not wait until next year. I have to race it next year. Looked like a fun track. Great Pics again. I brought my camera but since it was my first GNC I was too busy watching and walking around. It was a good time.

A final picture of the overall winner, Doug Gust.

Sorry, no pics of the podium (ran out of memory).

A special thanks goes out to Mike (mjnova) for the use of his camera and Sarah (wife of ampin02) for taking most of the pictures for me. That allowed me to follow the action.

Until next year...

Great Job Fred on the Race Coverage.

Doug Gust earned his record setting 6th Overall Win even after sufferinga crash on the start in the 2nd Moto. Tim Farr put in another great ride and quickly moved up in to the points to be tied with John Natalie Jr for 2nd. Jeremiah Jones dropped back to fifth in points after having a rough day.

Bring on the Competition, It will only make the site a better place. If anyone else is going to be attending a National or local race in your area, I am sure everyone on the site would really like to see it covered. If you are interested in helping out with the coverage, contact me at webmaster@exriders.com.

Thanks Again to everyone that participates in providing race coverage because I can only be at so many places at once.

LaRocco's Leap from what i have saw was only being doubled by the quads. Bikes clear it all the time. I saw Gust Triple that jump right before the lane that the step up double before.

Thanks for the coverage. I was there only to watch (maybe get balls enough to race next year) but it was a great vacation. The track is nuts from start to finish and the entire weekend was exciting. I recommend everyone check out this race.

P.S.-Thanks a lot to the jack***** security monkey that took the lonestar banner from me after a clean steal. What the hell?

I was there, I have some footage of the amateurs, Only guys from Wisconsin though. I'll be at Casey, if you know someone racing come talk to me.

I will be with the Spank 'um Racing Group.

Hey Jen,

SMILEY here.

I was asking around about the exriders. Saw a pair of stickers on a 450r, but the guy didn't know english. No habla. If that guy is on this site, I rode a white 440ex #9 red trim.

I had a blast there, qualified for 4-stroke B in 5th. It was the best experience I have ever had in my entire life, even though I broke a rib plunging into the face on the step-up double.

If anyone saw that, post a fresh reply.

I know Pro Rider Jasmin Plante has EXriders.com stickers on his 450R and he doesn't speak English extremely well. It might have been him that you are refering too.

;) I am into my first 10 days of a broken collar bone also directly related to my quad. So how long has it been for you? more importantly how long before you get to ride again? I am dying to get back to riding and want to get an idea of what I am in for

Hope you are up in the saddle again shortly and as good as new.

 I first broke my collar bone the first time 2 years ago yesterday (May 30th) I broke it the second time in the same spot April 3rd along with 2 ribs. So it has been 8 weeks. I broke it pretty bad this time so it is still not healed. It should of healed in about 6 to 8 weeks. The first time I broke it, it broke clean though but it was hard to see because it was still in place so it healed faster but very painful. This time one side broke up and it was split bad. I got an X-ray on May 11th (5 weeks) and the doctor said it did line back up but I still had a 5 mm gap in between the bones. It showed no signs of healing yet. They said to wait 4 more weeks and if there is no improvement I will need surgery. It doesn't really hurt to bad to ride though. So I am riding to salvage some points. Most people I talked to said they started riding at about 6 weeks when it heals like it supposed to. Some rebroke it though so be careful.

The first 2 weeks is the worst. No sleep, can't move your arm. It sucks. It gets much better though once it begins to mend together.

Good luck with it and let it heal before riding. Mine is a different situation than normal. Doug says I'm not human because it doesn't bother me to bad. (He forgets the first time when I thought I was going to die becuase of it :D ) If you look at the prictures on Doug's web site (Home page bottom Pictures from Red Bud) You can see how I am favoring my left side.

Take Care
Cindi;)

It's not hard to visualize 5mm. Just stack 5 dimes on top of each other. It is hard to visualize riding, much less racing with that kind of a gap in your collar bone. Cindi, you are one tough chick.:eek2: Hope your recovery is complete, if not speedy.:(

The champagne is chilling for Doug already. I'm thinking that if you made Digger pedal one of those little kid tricycles around the track, he could still finish in the top 10. (If the tryke made it!)
