Dent on new pipe?

I have just recieved a white brothers e-series pipe.
On the side of the pipe that sits against the frame, there is a dent about 1" high and 3" wide. It is in the middle below the bolt support. Is this dent here on purpose? I won't be by my quad for another day or two to see if it avoids something on the frame. If not, I don't think it will hurt anything will it?

not a dent, all hav em, so when u bottom, pipe dont hit brake caliper and kill both of em.

Yup, it is a dent...

After hours of EXTENSIVE engineering, they discovered the caliper would hit the pipe...

The finishing touches in the manufacturing process now includes a good whack with a hammer...
