well i am going to be building a 406ex with a ross 10:8.1 piston when i get it. but i want to also do a cam change to. i race motocross but i also trail ride and i really want to go for a cam that wont fall apart. i am leaning towards the stage 1 and the XR cam but i am also intersted in the stage 2 hot cam but i have heard that is more for 426ex's and bigger.

I would get the stage 2 before the one, unless you want a little milder motor. I dont know how these compare to the XR cam, but also check into web cams. herd lots of good things from them.

hm.. i have a hotcam 1 and it hits really hard right at mid/top

my buddy has a 2 and it only hits harder right in the top.. a little harder hit but you gotta get the rmps up there to hit..

i would sugest a 1 if your doing tight trails and tight mx with burms and stuff like that

xr is abou the same as a stage 1

Of the Stage 1. The Hot Cams were originally designed around the XR, not the TRX. So the Stage 1 is a pretty fair step above what the XR400 cam is.

sorry i don't have those pics to you yet. i am working on it. for the cam, if your not too worried about low rpm power, the stage 2 was fine in my bike. if you ride in a lot of tight trails i would get the stage 1.

First it would be nice to hear what kind of riding you are doing and plan on doing.

Stage 1 is good bottom end grunt
Stage 2 is good mid-top end
XR cam good all around up grade from stock.

Go with the stage one hotcam, as far as I am concerned the stage 2 is worthless, why would you ever want less lift? I got the stage one and the top end is great, but dont let anyone **** ya you wont get the bottom end like stock woth any cam but stock. The gains arent all that huge anyways with the stock head (unported).

I just installed a Hot Cam stage 2 and the power gain is unreal. Through the top of 2nd and 3rd. It makes 3rd gear seem like it lasts forever. I havent had the oppertunity to get it wide open but I can definately tell the difference. I rode a track last weekend so there was no straight-away's to open her up on. But I will let you know how she is on top end.
