We are running 2 450Rs in the local XCs.Both bike have thesame mods, hmf exhaust,155 main, and stock everything else. They will run fine for 2-3 races then just up and die on us. When we drain the fuel bowl there's always water and dirt in the bowls. We have started draining the bowls before each race and cut the gas tank vents so they don't suck water out of the steering stem, but the problem still persists. Does anybody have a fix for us. We're tired of losing races because the bike won't run. Pro class points are hard enough to get on a runnig bike.:D

I'd install a fuel filter, start simple first, ya know

I thought about that but the peices of dirt are to large to come through the factory screen in the petcock. I found a peice of leave in mine the size of a BB.Could the dirt be coming in through the carb vent hoses. I've never had this problem in over 20 years of riding so I'm flatly stumped.

Wow, that is strange,,, All your vent lines are down right? I know if they are facing up, stuff can get in them

How about installing mini fuel filters on vent hoses? there are lots of styles out there and weigh nothing. just remember to clean after each ride.
