Yes, mine would idle with either the stock carb, or the 38mm Keihin. Is your idle too low? Need a little more info. Make sure the carb is clean, jetted correctly, air screw set, clean air filter, no tears in the boot...

It has a new clamp on air filter from k&n its clean to and a fmf pipe on a 240 main.It does not idle at all.I can rev it up and it will idle real high for a few seconds and then just stop idleing and want to die.I have played with the air screw throttle cable and their are no tears in boot.

Do you have the stock 34mm Mikuni carb on it? I can't remember what main I ran with the stock carb, but the pilot is what will affect the idle. You may need to go up a size or 2 on the pilot jet, since you have the clamp on filter. Set the air screw at about 1.5-2 turns out.

its your throttle cable...get a new one...it will be solved...

i had the same problem with my 89...i musta took the carb off. 5 times before i figured out that it was my throttle cable

or since you put the K and N on...did you adjust the air flow mixture screw?? that could also be your problem
