I just replaced the stock chain with a DID xring for ATVs. Tension looks right but it clicks when throttled. The front sprocket seems to be picking it up on the bottom instead of releasing it smoothly.

any advice?:

Is your front sprocket worn?

the chain could be too loose

It is the original sprocket... 2000 model.

if your bike is a 2000, there is a good chance it needs replaced. did you install your case saver correctly? did you adjust chain slack properly?

i have a feeling the ticking is just the chain hitting the case saver.

What is a "case saver"? I did not take anything off to put new chain on. Just unthreaded it and threaded on the new one. The new chain seems stiff, is there a break-in period for it to loosen up?

Did you replace the sprockets?? If your still running stock sprockets on a 2000 model then your new chain will be junk very soon.

the case saver sits right infront of the little front chain guard. it may be hard to see without taking it off. it protects the case if the chain would happen to break. your will probably need to adjust your chain slack. an old chain and a new chain might be different lengths.
