Im thinking about getting a new 4stroke bike sometime soon. I was wondering how well they do in the dunes with a paddle tire on them? A group of friends and I are thinking about heading out to Little Sahara OK sometime this summer so I need to know how well it will do. I will probably be the only one in the group with a bike. I dont expect to smoke them or anything but I dont want to have something that wont pull me around very well in the sand. And by the way I only weigh like 140-150 lbs.

Ok if ur thinkin about getting a 250 i wouldnt.Id get at least a 300 because 250s dont have stunning power even if ur that small.Id go with aa 300-400ex with 8 in paddles.

if you go with a 2 stroke 250 you will be fine.

The CRF and YZF have plenty of power to turn a paddle in the sand.

Are you talkin bout a bike mostly for dunes, or sand and dirt? if your goin to ride mostly in sand, I'd get a 250 2 stroke or 450 4 stroke. my dad had a CR250, and that thing scared the sh#t outa me on dirt, but when you get in the sand, the power is a little more controlable!

Well its mostly for dirt riding but I was just curious how it would perform in the dunes since I plan to make several trips to Little Sahara during the summer and fall. But 99% of my riding will be on dirt.

oh, then I'd stick with the 250 4 stroke then. I was really scared of my dads cr250 on dirt. I'm about 140 lbs, and my old cr125 hauled me around pretty well!

Heck, I had a friend with an old XR250 come to the dunes with us, and I was surprised how well he got around.

I rode a CRF250 awhile back in the dunes, plenty of power. If you know how to ride the bike then those 250cc will go a looong way. No need for the 450 until you have absolutely mastered the 250.
