today....is as far as i know a nationwide gas boycott in attempt to lower gas prices. If 50% of the Americans who normally purchase gas on Wednesdays don't buy gas today the American government will lose 40.6 Billion dollars.(thatr's alot of dough)
so...no matte r how low ur EX is on gas...wait till tomorrow to fil ' er up. If this time is not sucessful there will be a gas bocott day atleast once a month. Thanx guys....and sorry if ur low on gas:(

Even if everyone stayed home today and didn't waste any gas, The prices would probably be higher tomorrow. :o

The thing bout that is...they may lose money that day...but the next day they will make that much or more, because people would be even lower on fuel. The only way something like that would work is if maybe people didn't run any vechile for a day or two, so no fuel is wasted and they would just have to refill up even more the next day. Make's no sense to me..:huh

Is it cheeper to buy fuel directly from the company..?? Cuz I'm jus curious, because we run our own business...and we got the huge fuel tanks in a shed in my yard (Marked disel, reg disel, and gas, then a bunch of oil and stuff). So would we get it cheeper per/L then if we were to buy from a gas station..?

here is how i offset the cost difference....

gas was $1.49 and is now at $1.90 in my area. thats an increase of $0.41. i use about 30 gallons a week so that adds to $12.30 a week increase to my fuel expense.

so to combat this for the short term, i stopped using extra fuel...you know...trips to the store, running out to see a friend, i mow my grass every 6 days instead of every 4 blah blah blah.

all in all with a little bit of conservation i figure im running about $5 a week over what I used to spend.

I do wish the price would get itself undercontrol because it does hurt. whats not added into the above equation is the increased cost of grocery items and many other products that will increase in price due to the gas prices.

i dont know the figures but a rise in fuel prices is supposed to increase the average cost of living 5% or something like that. thats where you get bent over not just at the pumps:o

if they really wanted to protest, it would be awesome if they could get a bunch of gas stations to shut down today!!!!

PAY ATTENTION to everything anyone that knows their eye from a hole in the ground has been saying, if people dont buy gas today, they will buy it tomorrow! The exact same amount of gas will be bought in the long run!

I just filled up my truck today, as I said I would do.... $45.... and when nicole gets home, we'll fill her car up too.

I dont like paying these prices at all, but after reading all of these posts about "not getting gas on May 19th" kinda gave me the extra push to fill up today.

That has to be the dumbest thing I have ever heard. It doesnt matter if you buy gas today or not you will tomarrow or friday. So where is this hurting a multi-million dollar gas company? Someone please explain the math that was behind this whole thing because to me it just doesnt add up.

I would like to personally thank all of those who did not line up at the pumps today:D I didnt have to wait to fill up.;)

Like Pappy said you really feel it at the store not the pump. And the real crapper is that when the cost of gas goes back down, groceries won't:grr:

i just have a silly little question.why is it that the price of gas has been going up an average of .06 a gallon from day to day and sometimes even .04 from morning to night but i never see the tanker truck between those peroids of increase?shouldn't the price remain the same until they have to refill?then i could see that the gas station had to pay more for the gas and have to charge more.it's not like the gas same gas sitting in the tank for a week is ageing like fine wine to justify the increase in cost is it?
there was a gas station in PA that sold gas for .97 cents a gallon yesterday.it was on the news and you should have seen the line:D they sold out in about 1 1/2 hours.boy i would have been pissed if i sat there all that time, only to pull up to the pump and have them say "sorry, we just ran out":huh

My truck....for an S-10 is the hardest SOB on gas i have ever seen. It has a 4.3 Vortec High-Output with a racing chip and it get aprox 16-17 mpg. I have a 20 gallon tank...and with gas prices in Ohio right now it costs me between $45-$50 to fill up.

Try filling up a 3/4 ton Hemi!! like 50+ bucks. The real kicker is the 8mpg while towing my race trailer. I can remember being at the dealership and looking at the cost of the deisel being like 7500.00 more expensive than the Hemi. I thought i was doing a smart thing!!!! Man if I would have known that on a monthly basis i would have actually saved money getting the deisel i sure would have plopped down that extra 7500.00 bucks!!!

BTW gas prices here in the Chicago Suburbs are right around 1.99 - 2.19 a gallon.
