my clutch is too tight

my clutch is way too tight and i want to loosen it. i have a 400 ex. i want to know if there is any way to make it looser. and waht do i need to do. do i need a whole new clutch or do i just need a few parts? and how much will it be

Buy a new cable ($11.95 from Rocky Mountain), disassemble the lever, clean it up really good and lightly lube it before reassembly, and make sure the new cable is routed properly and away from the headpipe. It would also be a good idea to get a cable luber so that you can lube the new cable and keep it nice and smooth. There's nothing to lube on the clutch itself; it's lubricated continually by the engine oil. That heavy, notchy pull is most likely from the inner casing of the cable being worn through.

buy a new cable, cable luber,keep it lubed. if you have probs later put a msr raptor lever&perch on worked great for me.

The MSR Rapter pearch and lever is a peice. ledofthezep has had 3 different ones on his Banshee and they keep breaking. POS to me.

i think the 400ex must have heavy springs or sumthin in their clutch that makes it harder to pull in. i have a 04 400ex and its hard 2. i think im just going to get a hydrolic clutch:D

The stock 400 clutch assembly is so easy too pull when its all working right. I wish i could get mine to work as well as stock without the ugly perch.

I have an '04 400ex and mines hard to pull aswell. My friend has a '03 Raptor and I swear it takes about 1/3 the effort to pull.

Get an RTC clutch perch and lever, all probs solved. They make the pull about 40-45% easier....
