idle - mid jetting question?

this isn't for a honda.. sorry... my buddy has a kdx 200 with fmf fatty pipe - k&n - and a port job. with a boyson RAD valve. ok.. here the problem. from idle to mid it runs like sh1t! we dont know if its lean or rich.. it just takes a while to get out of mid and it bogs down below. when its cold out it runs great when it gets hotter it will run worse.. there is a 48 piliot jet which is stock and truning out the scew will make it worse.. he put in a smaller and a bigger and it didn't correct the problem..
