I was wondering if this kit would be good for a 400ex. Its $70 from magicracing.com. Kit includes: JT chromomly steel countershaft, JT steal rear, EK520SRO O'ring chain, chain tensile strength is 7400 lbs.

also what size are the stock sprockets. I want good low end power and decent top, will prob be running 20in rears. would a 14/38 combo be good? THANKS

The stock gearing is 15/38. A 14 tooth front will give you a significant amount of acceleration, but you will probably 4-5 mph on top. I have never used the JT sprockets, but I would go with renthal. And a DID X ring chain or something of that quality. $70 is a decent price for what your getting. The DID or Renthal chain will cost you $70in it. I guarentee you if you keep the chain adjusted, that setup will last a long time.

thanks for the reply. Has anyone had experience with JT sprockets? how do you like em? I would go with renthal but their a little to pricey for me. will a 14/39 combo give a little more top than a 14/38 but still have more bottom than stock? Also I heard oring chains last alot longer than xring is this true? Let me know what setup you think i should run again i will probably have 20in rears.
