Good luck fighting the crowd that weekend! It'll probably be packed! Anyway, climb test hill and hit a few jumps for me......I'm hoping to get there sometime in June....:(

I've gone on that monday for 3 years now and its not that bad just a few extra trucks. I live 1 hour and 20 minutes from there and only go the day everyone is heading back home. The 31st is Monday. I would'nt go on Sat. or Sun. you're right it will be crowed.
I have also found that the weekend after the Memorial holiday and July 4th are great weekends to go on a Sat. with out getting run over.
Try it sometime.;)

Hey Jackie, I'll be up there at some point that weekend. I'm only about an hour away, so I'll watch the weather and go on the best day. I'm going up in the morning on Wed the 19th. Been pretty wet lately, so we'll see how it goes. Hope to see you up there next weekend. Later....

Hey here is a pic from Wed May 19th, there were only four other quads and a buggy there. We had our own personal sand box.

Man that must have been nice to have the place to yourself! I wish I lived closer or else I'd be there quite a bit. I live about 3.5 hours away, so it's a little harder for me to get there. A buddy and I are planning a trip there this summer, maybe 2 trips, we'll see. I haven't been there since 2001 and have been dieing to go back. My truck I had when I went out last was completely stock, but now that I have it lifted I want to go back and drive around on the dunes with it as much as I want to with my quad! The only thing stopping me from taking my truck out there now is that I want to get my engine and tranny rebuilt first (222,000 miles on stock motor and tranny!) that way I won't have to worry as much about breaking something when I'm 3.5 hours away from home! But as soon as I get her done, I'll be taking a trip out to Silver Lake for sure!

here's my truck....

Hell yea, nice wheels. That truck will take you just about anywhere you want to go. I will tell you to let someone else test the water first.....in the mud holes. My first trip up this year, I submerged my new 450r to the handlebars. Oh well, it happens.

I leave next Thursday for a weekend of duning. I am about 1.25hrs away. I am a little nervous however, it is going to be my first time riding the dunes on a quad. I used to rock out in trucks, but I kept breaking stuff. It is easier to have something break and just throw it back in the truck and drive it home rather than get a car trailer to tow a truck back.

Great! I cant wait to go my quad is still under construction. it is to be ready by the weekend. My son rides a yellow 400 with the exrider logo on it we will have a group of people so stop by and chat. we also like to hang out on the north dune where the two table tops are, if the sand hasnt taken another exreme shift. With the winds we've been having it is likly not to look the same.
ride safe, play safe..:p

Hows it going everybody. I'am a new member to this forum and have a couple questions about silver lake. Beefy I just wondered since you just went how strict are they with the spark arrestors and decibal checks during the week. I was told that if you shove something in the end of your muffler so the 1/4 inch rod they use won't go through, that it would work. (A friend told me that it would) Me and my two brothers plan on taking a trip up there in june sometime. Any info would be awsome.

As far as decibal checks, I hear they are doing every 5th vehicle through. However, they are also being pretty leanient(???) with how loud they will allow. Just take it easy on you're way up to the check point and don't rev it up. With the spark arresstors, I'm sorry to say they are very strict. My buddy tried to modify his DG exaust on his '87 lt250r and they wouldn't allow him through. You can try it , but I would bring my stocker if I was you. Put a post when you go, I'll try to meet you up there and show you around a little.

Later....

So is everyone ready? I am still planning on going on Monday because I am taking some novice riders (less for them to avoid) The weather man says that it will be nice all weekend and start raining maybe monday afternoon or evening. A little rain won't hurt anyone.
Delivery of my 400ex with the new Arens frame today!!!. I can't wait.... ride safe play safe..:p

Just wondering if u could tell me how they do the spark arrestor test. I've read all they do is shove a rod in your muffler. Is that really all they do and do they do it to everybody. Thanks for your help
