I(chads wife, Susie)wanted to give everyone the update on Chad's injury. He does have a broken collar bone in FOUR places! It was a pretty rough ride home. And a very bad race day for our family. My son Thad also received a hand injury and will be down with a sprained growth plate on his wrist from a bad hit on his bark buster the first lap but only for about two weeks. Chad on the other hand will be looking at missing VA and possible the Wisp. We had our family Doctor/friend waiting on us when we arrived at the local hospital at midnite. They knew this morning when the bone specialist came and looked it wasnt a good sign when he said 4 places broken. A plate like Jason Raines and Scott Summers have may not be an option because of the bad break so I am really sure it will be NO VA race. And for as much pain as chad has right now he said dont count him out for Wisp, he will be back as soon has he can ride. Heck he rode a mile to the finish like that, no pain meds for 6 hours on the way home, one tough person I would say. Thanks to all who helped me after the race with him and Thad, I appreciate you all! I couldnt have held it together without you all and you know who you all are! As for the race I should keep it to myself but I am not that kind of person, so NO this track should not of been a GNCC race, the rocks, maybe, the SPEED then the rocks you couldnt see NO! I wish they would go back to the old style days where the CC in GNCC was Cross Country, not wide open. But you take these chance and this is what you sign your name for, I guess.

Thanks for the information! I was worried, when your rig passed us down the interstate, and Chads sholder was all wraped up, and looked like he was trying to sleep some pain off!

I hope both of the Duvalls get well soon. Chad your one tough dude finishing on a course like that in that condition!!!

I went by Chad just as he was getting back on his quad. I didn't know that he was injured at that time, wasn't sure what happened. That is the same place that I went over the bars on the first lap. About 2 minutes before I saw Chad getting on his quad, him and Yokley passed me like I was going in reverse. For the small amount of time that I could see them, they were going at it side by side. Man they were flying. I hope Chad recovers soon.

Give the bone plenty of time to heal. Races can wait but broken bones won't. Get well soon to both dad and son..:)

Man Chad is my favorite Pro racer gods speed in his recovery & Thads,I think your right about the speeds make that course as tight & knarly as you can to keep the crazy speed down.

I'm with Rico give it plenty of time to heal, there is always the next race or next year :) You may not feel it now but 20 years from now you don't want to say "if I would have let that heal better I would not have problems"

Good luck on the recovery and I feel sorry for Mom-Wife having to take care of 2 injured people (she is going to be a very busy person ;)

Look at this way. Milk does the body good... but beer heals the bones and takes the pain away.

Hang in there Chad. Maybe a visit to the Badger skid plate boys can wing you up a tie rod to replace your collar bone.

Very sorry to hear about you and your son.....I took the worst crash of my life this weekend, lucky enough to walk away with a sprained wrist. Made me think about how much I would miss this if I couldn't race.........Hope you both get well soon.

And Susie, I totally agree with you.....That track was just dangerous. Very easy to get hurt really bad.

I'm sorry to hear that Chad. I hope you and Thaad have a speedy recovery and your both back to racing soon.

This really sucks you just got everything going your way and was really starting to make a charge.

If anything will help look at Scott Summers this year (bone collar bone at his age and was racing just weeks after it happen). I've also been there with the broken collar bone, not fun, but was back racing (against doctors orders) 5 weeks after it happen without missing a single GNCC.

Keep us posted on both Duvall's injuries. And Susie I agree that they need to go back to true Cross Country racing, not drag/ field racing that most of the tracks are.

That track at Rausch Creek was very dangerous and fast. I know cause I flipped at least 3 times during the race. Luckly for me I was so tired from lack of sleep I was unable to ride as fast as I would have rode or I might be layed up in the hospital too.

Get well soon

Mike

Bryan and I am sorry to hear about Chad's injury. We were worried cause Bryan and Duvall crashed on the start and when I heard he was hurt, I just hoped he didn't race hard all 2 hours with an injury. Please be smart and heal quick!!! but don't rush it. You are an awesome rider and will be back soon.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you all on chad's progress. He went back to the Doc and he said he would not like chad to come back at VA because it is about 80% perfect and he wants 110% perfect. Chad has conceived to the fact that he had to set out VA and will be letting his mechanic Bryan run the AM class for him to still get his sponsors out there. He really is fighting us on it but we have insisted that he follow the Doc's orders for once! He will still be there to represent his sponsor and support Bryan and Thad in there race's. So come talk to him he will have time to spare!:D
Thanks for asking about him it means alot to him that you all care.

good to hear, let that bone heal, missing one race isnt that big of a deal if it gets reinjured you could end up missing the rest of the season.

BTW does anyone have any pictures of the actual track?
