I would go with the CRF 450 motor for sure. Thats what Im gonna do next season when I sell my 426 honda motor.

I would like to have one for my project even though they aren't as good as the 450.........

my best offer for the motor is: $400.00 dollars.
(I can't hardly afford anything and i'm kind of having hard times buying things this is the best i can offer for the whole motor and carb...........:(

please show pics of the motor and carb & rev limitar box & give me the condition and details you would like to include if you agree..........

The YZ426 motor is harder to get started when cold............

This is what Ive heard from people they have rode both.

The YZ426 will Rev faster more like a built 250r. It will have a less torque. It is cheaper to buy and easier to get ahold of.

The CRF450 will be more like a fully decked out 465 stroker or so. It will have lots of low end torque. It has pretty good REvs and pulls longer than an EX motor.

I would get a CRF450 if I could choose, but it was cheaper to get the YZ426. The CRF450 has a cylinder kit you can buy that makes around 52 with just a race exhaust and few mods. The YZ has a external oil tank(stock 400ex works), where the CRF450 has a wet sump.

Sorry to dig up an old thread...but where can you find 450 engines?? eBay just hasn't been getting many lately, I remember there used to be a ton on there. Any other sites that may have them or any fellow EXRiders that have a spare engine or something??

www.servicehonda.com sells crf motors but they are on the expensive side deffinetly. i deff agree with pnut on how he described the 2.I love my crf but the maintenance of the motor is unreal

yz's intend to blow fast. theyre harder to start. really hard to start in cold.

crf are excellent, built in compression. easier to start. hot start always comes in handy

Why is the maintenance hard on the CRF engines? I've heard this before about how they are unreliable...what's up with that?

their is no skirt on the piston... also something with a valve wears out fast...

those engines are ment to be taken care of... change oil every race, rebuilt it atleast once a year if not more, check clearances all the time, etc...

Did he hate it so much because of the maintenance? I might buy it if I have enough in the savings account.

All quads have their freak malfunctions....

So what if it's a Yamaha? Never had a problem with my Banshee except for when my friend blew it up (that was completely his fault and it was jetted way too lean on 87 octane).

I think I'd rather have a YFZ than an R. People give the R too much credit because it's a Honda...
