Which exhaust do you think is the best for the YFZ 450?

05-14-2004, 02:59 PM
for what application???

For GNCC=HMF
For MX= TC, ESR
for desert+esr
for quiet trail riding= white bro's wuit system!

Or about any dam exhaust more than likely you are going to be notice much of a difference!

Actually from the dyno's its between the LRD and the Curtis sparks. Both getting about 48 hp at the rear wheels.

What about the GYTR factory exhaust?

ESR is a drag/ dune pipe. Provides the best top end. Definately not an mx pipe.

the gytr aluminum pipe and header combo imo is pretty good for low to mid end power and torque , i have a friend with a yfz with the hmf full system and we both weigh close to the same and its pretty close but i ussually pull him out of the hole and stay about half a tire length in front of him 300 ft drag race

definitely. it gives it so much more low and mid power and still pulls through out the top end.

thunder alley makes custom exhausts, so the power can be anywhere you want. Sparks dunes and MX, TC best low-end for MX, same with LRD but not as good as TC. ESR best top-end for duning, but heard pretty good low-end , seen couple people use it for MX

Now that the Curtis sparks have had some hours on them, they are falling apart. Atleast 5 this past weekend broke in 2 places. MX racing that is anyway. I have decided to go with the hetrick racing exhaust. It looks trick and i talked to some people and they say its reall well built and performs great.

I am personally running the White Brothers E2 very nice piece. WEll please. I bought mine after asking all the same questions. Then Dirt Wheels comes out with the PIPE SHOOT OUT for the YFZ
I chose the #2 Pipe. nice article if you get a chance to read it. had Dyno result and db levels

Well my friend has a yfz and he's got a White brothers Aluminum Race Series exhaust and that thing hauls balls.... we used to be dead even pretty much in a drag race, and after he got his pipe, he could blow me away. I have a pretty much stock 450r though. He also went to Haspin Acres and dragged several yfz's on a quarter mile strip and beat them all. One had the Dr. D full exhaust ( Dubach Racing pipe that won the Dirtwheels slip-on shootout) and he blew that guy away. I honestly think it's one of the best ones out there, even though it's LOUD. :macho

I have a DMC Alien complete kit on my YFZ and it is very loud. I love it. Added a ton of power all the way through the band. If I could do it all over again I would buy either the Trinity or the Sparks. I think Trinity, Sparks, and DMC, are the best 3 pipes money can buy for general riding/racing with friends. The tabs on my Alien broke off so there isnt even a heat shield on the pipe now. After I drag race this saturday, im going to send the pipe off to DMC and they will repair/replace it.

My #1 pick for a YFZ though would be a Sparks, hands down.

I am still standing by my White Brothers E2 great performance
and it is NOT obnoxiously loud.
