There is definitely not a 5.0 that was in production in 1995. Unless the Cobra/Sallen/Roush use 5.0's which I don't think they do, I think they use the stock block...and I thought the 5.0's stopped in 1993?

i found a mustang timeline that labeled 1995 as the last year of the 5.0's

They were probably around the low 200s. Like 190-220 or something, at the crank.

sorry it was 96 that they went to the 4.6 ,94 was the new body style.i think its like 260 at the crank which turns out signifigantly less at the wheels. do a search and find out. it might have been more like 280 but i can't think right now. too much workin in the sun!!

So let me get this straight, they switched the body style in 95, which I know about...but they kept the 5.0 in it for that last year?

If that's so the body style change must've thrown me off...sorry I hate when people get their information wrong and I hate it when I do it...:o

since this is a HP thread, how much would a small block 350 5.7L gmc engine have for HP? thanx.

Yep. New body style started in 1994 but the 5.0 lasted until 1995.

nope 94 was the first year of the new body. the "fox" body ended 93 model year. and the 4.6 came out in 96

My fault also on that, I thought the fox bodies ended in '94. I just looked it up, the 95's used 5.0's...my bad!

I also wanted a fox body for the longest time, from when I was about 11...up until about a year ago...then I opted to go with the 3000GT. Mine's for sale now and I'm buying a VR-4 to do the same as you...

i just sold my contour svt. that was fun but i NEED an 8 cyl. who cares about gas prices. i can't get enough of an 8 with an exhaust

Same...nothing sounds better in my opinion...yeah Japanese cars can sound preety good too with a BOV and a nice exhaust. But there's just something about the V-8 with a good exhaust like Flowmasters or something...:blah:

see i have to disagree. i love the blow off valve and turbo spool. but as soon as i hear that noise from the exhaust it makes me cringe.

I think if the exhaust has the nice growl to it, or a nice deep throaty sound like mine it's fine. But that stupid infamous fart sound is just annoying, bottom line.

94 they switched body styles, 99 they switched again. 95 was the last year of the 5.0 before they switched to the 4.6. the 302 is rated at 225 horsepower. if your getting the mustang make sure you get spin tech mufflers. the sweetest sound you'll ever hear.

The 5.0 (302) in the 75-79 was rated at 134bHP, it didn't exist in 80-81, 82 was rated at 157bHP, 83 was 165, in 84 they switched to EFI and it was rated at 175bHP, 85-86 was 210bHP, and 87-95 was rated at 225bHP.

87-93 was 225 at the crank.
86 they changed to EFI
85 the automatics were CFI
82 the 302 came back ( from the 255) 83 jumped to 175 horsepower. ( beat Corvettes back in the day)

94 they changed body style to the SN95, wieghed more and a little less HP. 96 Ford went to the 281 SOHC which was slower then the 95's. 96-2004 Cobras use DOHC engines 96-2001 the Cobras cranked out, 305-320 hp ( dont quote me exatcly) and in 2003 Eaton supercharged dual over head Cam 281CI engine putting out 290hp/390 tq under rated

Hey there sport, you forgot to mention that the 86-88 EFI models were Speed Density systems, and in 89 it was upgraded to a Mass Airflow system. Lest I forget, California-bound stangs in 1988 already had the Mass Airflow system on it. 93 had a factory "Cobra" option with a GT-40 intake and heads and produced around a whopping 240 hp. Rumor has it that the 89 mustangs were factory "ringers" that produced around 235-240 hp, yet were still advertised at 225 (don't know if that's true or not).
