My brother is quite happy with his Raptor, as am I... I know people call them junk, but my bro hasn't had a problem with his.

They respond very well to mods and are a blast to ride...not even comparable to the 400ex, 450r, YFZ, etc. because it feels so different. If you are looking for a nice trail/dunes quad but aren't wanting to race it too much, the Raptor is a good choice. :)

You can by my cannondale for less and it would smoke that thing...and why did he extend the a-arm but keep the stock axle? The front is already wider than the rear stock,it must feel sooo wierd.

a wider lower raptor with better carburation is probably the best open class machine their is.

otherwise.. if you want open class go for a Predator.

450 class? YFZ 450 is probably your best bet.

iv always liked raptors, yes, thats a good deal. id take a raptor with those mods over a stock 400ex. im heavier, thats why.

05-11-2004, 08:08 PM
id take a craptor if I had the money for every little thing that breaks on them

I personally really enjoy riding the raptor. I think it is a great bike, great power, great feel, and looks good to. Stick the bike is fun, but I would defiantely add a longer swingarm for the one your looking into. I do 99% of my riding in the dunes and the Raptor is a great bike for the dunes .

i kinda like it its a HUGE step up from my dads warrior in speed and power itfeels really weird in the woods i like it for wide open and MX riding, not woods, but id say go for it,i got a couple a friends with raptors that are a wiz with them so anything you wanna know just ask:cool:

the 2 downfalls of a raptor are

1. lower bottom end than most open class

2. pi$$ poor stock suspension

Swap out those shocks, pop in better carbs, pipe it and jack that swingarm out a bit and then add a tooth or 2 and I promise you'll have a Raptor capable of about 90mph with enough bottom end to still accelerate quickly and climb.

a stock raptor can be geared to do 90mph but it robs the bottom end too much. modded you can expect to gear it to 90mph and have a close to stock bottom end.

Raptors are easily capable of speeds up to 95 mph.....they are great bikes just need some stuff to make them tear apart the competion....oh and the stock suspension isn't that bad rmx500.....it can take jumps 10 feet up on a little down slope....
