Will an aluminum air box make any difference in the performance of a 450r or are they mainly just for looks? It's not like it's moving the battery and other components inside where they are protected such as on other bikes. I'm currently running an EHS airbox lid, will this fit on the CFM aluminum air box, or do you have to use the cover that is supplied with the unit. Thanks.

What battery on the 450R did you want to move? :p

Exactly my point... there is no battery or other components to move. That is why I was wondering if it really made any since to replace the stock plastic box with an aluminum one.

For the 450r I would say no,for the 400ex yes.Why spend $200 on a airbox when the stocker works fine.I bought CFM w/lid for my 400ex because of the relocation (and lid) of the battery. The battery on the 400ex has been known to bend subframes. Dont get me wrong the airbox is a very well made product but in your case I think I would stick with the stocker

I got the CFM that replaces the plenum and everything and I love it. It def. out flows the stock box and intake plenum and gets rid of alot of the nasty plastic crap that comes from the factory. I think it performs better and looks a hell of a lot better. Ebay - Item number: 4640979728 $169.95+ship.
