Air Box Lids

Whats everybodies experince with racing harescrambles or Gncc with out air box lids?
I am running without now, but keep thinking I might want to rethink that one.
If you are running with a lid, do you drill holes and install filters, or just run a stock lid?
If so how does this affect jetting if jetted for no lid.

I have a yfz and my bud modified mine.
He cut a hole in the lid and riveted cut to fit outerwears for a Raptor airbox lid and it works good.
Gets plenty of air and keeps the big stuff out.
I'm running 168 mainjet 46pilot jet with airscrew 2and a half turns out.:)
