This is a dumb question I hope. I am installing a new 520x86 chain on my 300ex. I run a 14 tooth up front and a 38 tooth in the rear and I can't seem to get the front sprocket on, regardless of how much I roll the hub. So do I need a longer chain or am I doing something wrong? Stock sprocket sizes are 13f38r.

you need to shave some metal off the casesaver or go back to a 13th tooth sprocket

Thanks. I found the problem. I bought my quad used and assumed that because it had a stock sprocket on the front at the time, the rear would also be stock. Well it is a 39 tooth rear sprocket. That, coupled with trying to go with a bigger front sprocket, meant that I would need a longer chain. I just went back to the 13t front and it is fine.
