I want to do some mods to my engine but I really don't want to get too involved. I really don't want to bore on it at all if possible. What can I do to add power without doing any type of boring? Cams, piston, etc?? Please tell me prices as well, I need to know how much money I'll need to be saving.

High compression stock bore piston and cam. Don't know prices.

How high of a compression? What kind of gains will this give?

im pretty sure 11:1 is the highest you can have and still run pumped gas.

i THINK AROUND 10.5-1 is the highest you can get in stock bore.
I'd do at leasd a 406 or a 416 if your gonna do a new piston.

11:1 compression piston is around $110
Hot Cam stage 2 is around $150
add an extra $30 - $40 for extra parts needed for piston, wristpin, circlips, ect...

What is the cost and what all needs to be done to do a 406 or 416?

the 406 is really just a clean up bore and in my opinion is not worth the time and money unless your cylinder is out of round and your not goin to notice a power gain seriously the power gain that you will notice will be from the added compression not the bore both requre you to bore the cylinder out, piston kits run around 120 that include piston rings and cir clips gaskets are extra

Go to www.sparksracing.com and check out the 416 national kits.If you buy all the parts listed, Expect to beat most 440's, raptors, and banshees. All you have to do is get your sleeve bored. You must buy an 89mm piston. I would check into the ross, JE group buy thread. While you are in there , I would have the head ported and polished, and put in a heavy duty rod. Depending on the cam you do, I would get heavy valve springs and hardened rockers if needed. Then, Your 416 should be as reliable as stock.

So basically if I want to do the 416 national, I'm looking to spend more than $1500? I just don' t see myself doing this anytime soon, also being that I just bought the thing and its barely 3 months old. I would love to find a second engine and have it done to it or something but thats future planning. I think doing a higher compression piston and cam with all the fixings should be much more sufficient now. That from what you guys told me should be around $300-400 bucks or so.

geesh, for 1500 you could build my motor and be beating the 416 nationals

you would be more than happy with the 3 - 400 dollar setup, specially if your just a avid trail rider

You're definitely right Ugly, I don't think I want to spend that kinda money on something when I know I won't be serious racing with it, unless I hit the lottery and can afford to take the time off my two jobs to go make the races. The 300-400 buck setup should sufice until then!
