A 426 is super easy to build. Take it to a local machine shop and get it bored .120 over for a 88mm piston(make sure you take the piston so the machinist will mic it, nothing is perfectly round) and put it back together.

http://www.motorcycle-atv-pwc.com/ . Same thing I have and so far so good. Pretty cheap with all the boring, honing and gaskets needed to do the big bore.

Yes Mark does a 426. But why not just have the machine work done and save yourself a bunch of money and do the rest of the work yourself? 400ex motors are about as simple as it gets. Pick up a manual and youll be good to go.

Go with a sparks 416 national kit. It will rock your world.

I dont have that kit but will in the future. If you get that kit with everything listed on the site, expect to beat raptors, banshees 450's and prob predators. You could also prob re-gear to 16 tooth front and still have stock or mildly faster acceleration with alot more topend.

so you think a sparks 416 kit will be able to beat a raptor and do you think it will be faster then a 426?

Sparks 416 will beat a raptor but not a 426. Unless you got a Sparks race cam and a drag shorty. Both of which I would not recommend for mx.

I would also think about a TC 425, it does take awhile to get it but your better off getting the piston and gaskets and have your local machine shop to do the boring and your all set. It is easy to do but will recommend the manual and if you know someone that has some kind of experience with taking apart motors ect... can help too!! But since you will be having everything apart, your better off doing everything now, especially a cam!!!

mark baldwin did an excelent job on my 426. i just got to ride it on our practice track yesterday and i love it. it revs very quick and i think is going to do excelnt on the mx and ax tracks.

what kit will be real good for racing mx and will be able to keep up with the new bikes like the 450r and the yfz 450?

04'400ex'er, im not saying your wrong or anything but i find it hard to believe that a 416 kit could beat raptors and banshees. how many hp will the 416 kit push? also how high of a compression is the piston? also does a 416 rev faster then bigger bores? and if yes why

thor88, i think a 426 will be very compretiive against the new bikes on the track, and im not just saying that because i have one but after riding mine i think it will be competitive. there is a nice yfz450 that i have raced a couple of times before i got the motor and i could hang with him in some techinacle sections but on the fast secitons he would pull me but i think with the extra power of the 426 i should be competitive. we have mind geared down to a 14/39 sproket which means im not going to be winning any top speed drag races but will get a really good jump off the start. and also if u get a 416, 426, 440 whatever make sure u tune it right. otherwise u are not going to get full potention out of it. hopefully this help. goodluck with what ever u do

A 416 or 426 will pull a raptor and most banshees all day long. At the four stroke wars the Sparks 416(on alky and extensive motor work) pulled the 686 Trinity Raptor by like 5 bike lenghts. My friend has a Southwest Motorsports(phoenix) raptor that is a 720 and my 426 pulled it by 10 bike lenghts up Olds hill repeatedly. 11:1 416s and 426s rev out much faster then a raptor and weigh a lot less. A 426 will pull a 416, but both will pull a 440. Finally, a 426 will pull a stock 450 if you know what your doing, but when you get into full exhaust, filter, no lid, and the cam mod on a yfz, then you better be on the ball when that gate drops. Running a 14/40 426 I drop in 3rd and it takes all my bikes got to hang with modded yfzs. BUT keep in mind that theres a lot more to mx then the holeshot, so what you dont holeshot every race. Out corner and out brake the guy who did get the holeshot.

is their any where i could find pics or video of the sparks 416 beating trinity raptor? also how much more will the 426 pull? 11:1 compression you can still run pumped right?

********.com or atvconnection.com might have some. No on a 11:1 piston you should run race gas or a 50/50 mix.

All the shops mentioned are top notch but the wait time could be several months for your motor. Members on here have had motors at sparks and TC both for up to 6 months. Do you really wanna spend all summer lookin at your quad with no motor in it:confused:

Talk with GT thunder and have it done in about 3 weeks time. He has a 450 stroker that is eatin piped TRX450s and chitten piped yfz450s.....

Or have him do a 416 kit for you. He is the motor man for several top pros in the GNCC series, has fast turn around time and is a super guy to deal with.

I'd have sparks, baldwin or TC do work on my motor but the wait time is unexceptable..
