If you are running a slip on, I would just save some money and go with a 416 kit with HD studs and CRF450 timing chain vs. a 440, unless you have already gone with a 416 bore. I dont know alot about 440's but I think you can get more out of a 416 for the money...

if your gonna bore it to a 440 look into geting a lard bore and lrd pipe they really bring it to live but with stock or 416 bore i hear the Hmf is pretty good

Call White Bros. they have 440 kits for $300. It comes with a new sleeve and a piston. I got my sleeve put in and bored to match the piston for $80. I ran a Sparks x4 exaust.

Any comments on this 440 kit (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=2477110477&category=43977&sspagename=WDVW) that's been on eBay for $185?

You won't get true 11:1 compression with that set up. I had to do a lot of tweaking just to squeeze 10.6:1 out of it. Had to run without a base gasket (Hondabond) and a .027" head gasket.

I'd just do a sparks 416 national kit and have a more reliable motor. that shouldent blow head gaskets. Also, a slipon wouldent be near the power of a full system, especially after you do motor work. Look into the sparks.

I never blew a head gasket it came with a gasket kit and everything. I might be wrong but I think it was a metal gasket that was on my head when I traded it.
