Shock swap question?

I know the 400ex and 250r front shocks are basically the same, but what other shocks would work on a 400ex. I know and understand that they will need to be revalved.

How about the z400 or lt250r shocks?

those are the only ones that will bolt on and work well. Shocks off other bikes like the Cannondale will bolt up with a bushing change but the stroke, valving and spring rates are all wrong. LTZ400 shocks are too long. LT250R shocks are too short and would be a step backwards.

lol so it is a good idea to put 400ex shocks on a R, what about with +3+1 a arms on them?

using them with wide arms will make them very soft.

Is it imperative that I get new shocks. I am running a 250R with +3+1's and my wheels turned around. The reason I ask is because I see people buying shocks with +1 a arms and what not. I mostly drag race and trail ride with friends and stuff. Nothing to serious for shocks. Plus they cost to damn much for me.
