I have purchased a four stroke tech oil cooler. heres how the installation has been going so far. i have done a TON of custom modification to get it to fit like it does but i am very happy with how it has been coming out.

first custom brackets were made to hold the cooler unit itself. i didnt want to have to remove/remount the stabilizer and all of the shock ressies. so instead of ziptieing it to the front frame rails it bolts up to the frame holes that are behind the upper shock mounts

next it was onto pluggin the stock oil flow hole that delievered the oil to the head. instead of opting for JB-welding a ball bearing in there, me and my dad thought it would be better to tap out the hole and insert a stud, which could be removed if needed to go back to the stock setup. a 1/4-20 tap was used and to get the stud we cut the end of a bolt off. this thing is small!

finially here is the stud screwed in and locktighted. it took a while getting the stud the right length and practically flush with the case, but it sure looks good :p

Do you think you could post a few pics of your 300ex?

Hey looking good man. Where you mounted that cooler is pretty much exactly like my radiator is on my YZ426 in the LSR frame, looks like you did as good job mounting you oil cooler as LSR did the radiator.

I should have mine done in 2 weeks but it will look nothing like yours. I still have to tear it down midsummer and have everything PCed.

That is nice. I think you'll be pretty happy with it. I think that was the best $100 I've ever spent on my quad.
Just a thought; you probably could have found an Allen head set screw at a hardware store, it would be easier to remove if you ever have to.

Sick quad! Awesome job.

Btw, does anyone know how well these work over the stocker? Less worry about your engine to overheat?

Check out www.deserttoyzatv.com, they have a 400 oil cooler that is 3 times bigger then stock, and mounts in the same stock location. Comes with new lines and antivibe mounts for 350. Much better then making brackets for another oil cooler. Cooled my 426 down 50 degrees.

this cooler is nice because it cools the oil that is going right to the head, while the stock cooler is still cooling the rest of the system

as for the $350 cooler...i'd rather take my extra $250 and spend it on something else.....mine is rubber mounted as well :p

thanks for all of the comments guys. i have a race at southwick next weekend
