Today marked another visit for this series to the facility at Pheasants Run. A good turn out combined with a few more miles of course spread out the field and the racing was great!

Pro/ A class was on the line first with 2 of my favorite riders from this series on the line. #170 Brent Sturdivant and #165 Brandon Sturdivant.

A 400 ex led the class to the first turn!

Pappy
05-08-2004, 05:21 PM
The 400ex rider knew he needed to get away from the 450's in the class and was gone in no time

Pappy
05-08-2004, 05:22 PM
Little did he know that the bulk of the 450's were tangled up right behind him!

Pappy
05-08-2004, 05:24 PM
Both Sturdivant boys were right in teh thick of it:(

Pappy
05-08-2004, 05:26 PM
Engine fired up, and almost dead last at the start, Brandon drops the hammer and heads to the woods!

Pappy
05-08-2004, 05:28 PM
Im not certain if this is Donnie Masters or not. Donnie and his racing buddy run almost the exact same set up and its hard to tell them apart

Pappy
05-08-2004, 05:30 PM
The next class out was Open B combined at the start with Vet and another C class

Pappy
05-08-2004, 05:31 PM
#320 and #305 made contact but didnt get tangled

Pappy
05-08-2004, 05:33 PM
This rider angrily throws sod that was all over his bars after a rollover

Pappy
05-08-2004, 05:35 PM
C class 16 -21 was last off the line with this 400ex pilot getting the early lead

Pappy
05-08-2004, 05:36 PM
There was lots and lots of first turn introductions today:D

Pappy
05-08-2004, 05:38 PM
After the start, I walked the course backwards to see who would be in the lead at the end of teh first lap.

This KFX rider emerged first!

Pappy
05-08-2004, 05:40 PM
15 or 20 seconds passed and my ears picked up the sound of a big thumper working its way towards me. To my surprise it was Brandon Sturdivant!!! I knew he would be a contender even with the bad start, but to work it all out on the first lap worked for me!

Pappy
05-08-2004, 05:43 PM
Hot on his brothers heels, Brent Sturdivant came ripping thru the woods running 3rd! These boys worked the entire class on the first lap after starting dead last...impressive!!

Pappy
05-08-2004, 05:44 PM
The rider that had gotton the holeshot was folloing in 4th place

Pappy
05-08-2004, 05:46 PM
6th place was being held by Hillbilly racing!

Pappy
05-08-2004, 05:48 PM
Outlaw Racings Donnie Masters works his R thru this section of track

Pappy
05-08-2004, 05:49 PM
A rider disappears behind a wall of water!

Pappy
05-08-2004, 05:51 PM
The action was hot whenever a pass was attempted

Pappy
05-08-2004, 05:53 PM
Exriders member MotoX33 (Jonathan Sheets) looked good again this weekend and wanted another win in B class!

Pappy
05-08-2004, 05:55 PM
This 250R rider makes his way up this hill, which will seem very ..very small compared to the quad eating hill located a few more miles into this track:eek:

Pappy
05-08-2004, 05:58 PM
And here is that very hill with rider Brandon Sturdivant make his attempt! I can say that I doubt my pictures will do the hill justice. It wasnt the steepest hill ive seen, but when compined with super slick mud from bottom to top...roots and rut s and a killer offcamber at the top it desereved my attention!

Pappy
05-08-2004, 06:00 PM
At first i didnt think much of the hill, other then it was steep and fairly long. But the 100+ spectators lining the sides was a big clue that this was the place to be!

Pappy
05-08-2004, 06:01 PM
Brent S. cracks the throttle on his R and heads to the top

Pappy
05-08-2004, 06:03 PM
Riders had a myriad of lines to chose from. there were atleast 3 main lines into the hill and at the top 4 or so lines to navigate

Pappy
05-08-2004, 06:05 PM
This rider eyeballs the top of the hill as he makes an attempt

Pappy
05-08-2004, 06:07 PM
All types of attempts were made, from full throttle to clutch work...each worked..sometimes:devil:

Pappy
05-08-2004, 06:11 PM
The YFZ's are good climbers and would be my choice for this hill:macho

Pappy
05-08-2004, 06:13 PM
From what I could tell, you couldnt hit the hill with alot of throttle. The ground was too slick and thos riders that tried that ended up just sitting still!

Pappy
05-08-2004, 06:14 PM
A bit of clutch and roll on the gas gave the best results

Pappy
05-08-2004, 06:15 PM
Once the traction gave way it was time to make a decision!

Pappy
05-08-2004, 06:17 PM
Most of the time, the rider could simply back off and turn the quad around

Pappy
05-08-2004, 06:18 PM
Helping hands were in big supply and many fans jumped right in to help out a rider who need it

Pappy
05-08-2004, 06:20 PM
Alot of times a rider didnt have a chance to decide a course of action as a human chain would form and literaly pull a rider clean to the top!

Pappy
05-08-2004, 06:22 PM
Exrider member MotoX33 knew he better make it with ME at the top :p

Pappy
05-08-2004, 06:23 PM
This rider handles the hill as spectators take cover behind trees waiting to help a rider in trouble

Pappy
05-08-2004, 06:25 PM
OOPS!

Pappy
05-08-2004, 06:26 PM
Too the rescue!

Pappy
05-08-2004, 06:27 PM
Yes, I can take pictures and hold a "LINK" in the chain:devil:

Pappy
05-08-2004, 06:30 PM
Alot of this from every type of quad and every skill level.

Pappy
05-08-2004, 06:31 PM
the Sturdivants boys gittin her done:macho

Pappy
05-08-2004, 06:32 PM
When the hill was behind you, a blast of throttle and you were off!

Pappy
05-08-2004, 06:33 PM
But first ya had to clear the hill:p

Pappy
05-08-2004, 06:35 PM

Pappy
05-08-2004, 06:36 PM
As soon as he fired her back up they yanked him out

Pappy

Pappy
05-08-2004, 07:01 PM

Pappy
05-08-2004, 07:03 PM
