KFX/Z vs. Raptor

I friend of mine is going to buy a new sport quad. I have a 450R and told him to buy one of those. But he has to have reverse. He is going to buy a Raptor. I'm trying to talk him into a KFX400. I know I'm in the KFX section so I'm sure I know what kind of responses I'll get but what do you guys think? He is only going to ride for fun, mostly in the woods. Which is faster in a drag, stock vs. stock? Thanks!

The raptor will win in a drag hands down stock to stock. Both are good woods macines, if he just wants to ride around he wont go wrong with either.

I sold my Raptor and got a Z if that tells you anything:) My Raptor was faster than a Z in a drag, but that was it. The Z just just does everything better IMO.

get the kfx....i love mine...raptor blows in sornering....not to reliable either

Raptor is a little faster in the drag (pulls ahead of z after 5th gear cause of CCs). Other then that the topheavy machine is just no comparison.

pulls ahead of z after 5ht gear cuz the z is 400cc and raptor is 660cc???

tell my why a 450cc yfz or a 500cc predator beats a 660cc raptor? its not all about the cc's......

i saw a drag between a raptor and a kfx and the kfx won
raptors mods are fatboy4 pipe k&n airfliters +1+3a arms polished piston
kfx mods e seires pipe polished piston holeshot tires on rear and both riders have been riding all there life
but the raptor did kill it off the line

i say go with a 400Ex or kfx/Z there was a bunch of people that rides with us that rode raptor...we ride fast trails...they all have 400's now the raptor is to much to try to control and stuff more taller ride hieght and most people feel more comfortable on 400's Exspecialy on hillclimbs jes my $0.02 ;)

craptors CANNOT hillclimb..it is very difficult & usually result in going backwards on top of you everytime. they arent reliable at all either & they really aren't that fast except top speed. now eveyone buys one & wants one b/c they look really cool but looks can be deceiveing with this one...get the kfx400...i loved the one I rode

You should get the quad that best suits your size, ability level, and type of riding you do. Over 6' tall? The Z will be cramped. Ride tight wooded trails? The raptor is a bit tall. For me it's "seat of the pants" research that tells me what I want to know about a quad. That said, the Suzuki seat is the best in the business, hands down! The Yamaha looks the best! My girlfriend almost bought the raptor for the red frame. Instead she bought the Z and now we're powdercoating its frame (and a few other parts) transparent red for that cool custom look (that comes stock on the Raptor). Both great machines. What's your favorite color?
