I'm looking for an air filter for my 87 250X. I just bought a FMF Power Core 4 Exhaust and I don't know what Air Filter to purchase to give me the best performance. What do you suggest?

Thanks

For pure performance K&N.Anytime you can increase the amount of air to the motor you will increase the power.I personally would run a UNI or Twinair foam filter.I don't like how much dirt the K&N lets through to the motor...........................Let the arguements begin:rolleyes:

Filter Wars.....Commence!:D

I've run them both and they are both good choices. You can't go wrong either way.:)

Filter war. K&N = more air = more dirt in your engine

Oups!
What have I started?
If I go with a UNI, I gues that I will need a smaller jet than a K&N?
One more thing, which one do the best with water splashing?

Thanks

Do a search....there has been many many threads on this exact topic latley. I have been running my K&N for over a year now and haven't had a problem, but at the same time if I had a Uni, I wouldn't diss k&n. Eaither way is better than stock;)

I run a uni, and i;ve never had a problem, one friend with a 400 and a k&n got dirt in his card and ****, it wasnt very nice.. we had to take the whole thing apart and check it out....

another friend witha K&n wrecked his raptor too (dont know if it was the filter or what though)

No arguing here, I agree 100%. The K&N flows more air, but a good foam filter is better at stopping dust. Personally, keeping dirt out of the engine means more to me than gaining a tiny amount of a horsepower.

See there.A K&N gives you so much power that it makes you wreck.:D

K&N, with the proper size precharger it will keep most dirt particals and it will deflect water since it is water resistance. I do creek crossings all the time and the precharger helps.

the K&N flows much better but i would never use it without an outerwear, i would go with UNI if you ride in dusty conditions, if you ride the dunes or places where your not worried about something sliping through the filter go with the K&N
