Would this be Stupid??

I just got my 400ex and am going Flat Track Racing this Saturday. The Stock Front shocks are 16", I know I need to lower the bike. A buddy of mine has a extra set of stock front Banshee shocks, that seem to be 14". This would lower the bike and I can get em for this weekend. Would this be a horrible idea?

The Flat track is different this year. They moved it, and some ppl have told me it is much better than the one they were using previously.

Yes, I rode on it a few weeks ago. It is a small oval with a very tight hairpin corner that is a real pain. If the corners are smooth it is a very fun track.

Just thought of this, Will the Banshee shocks even mount in my 400ex?? They look like they will, but was wondering if anyone had any sugestions. I know the spring rate and everything isnt gonna be exactly right, but it isnt like I will be Jumping anything. Any other disadvantages there might be???

I am pretty sure they will not fit. The shock eye is a larger width on the Yamaha, It would work if you were putting honda shocks on a honda cause you could shim up the extra space but you will not be able to wedge the Yamaha shocks into a honda shock mount.
Here is a pic to help you understand, its a z400 shock, they have a honda width upper and yamaha width lower so you can see the difference in size.
